Five Essentails to create connected students/augmented reality

The Five essentials talks about how students need to be connected as an author, publisher, and conversationalist.  Where students need to know how to write and communicate online properly and when to use first and third person.  They also need to know how publish websites and portfolios online in a professional manner.  They need a voice on the internet but know how to be proper and to see if they can make a difference or reach out to anyone.  They also need to know how to turn devices off so they will not be distracted while completing a homework assignment.  They want the younger generation to become creators not consumers and creating apps not just downloading them.

It is strange to read something like this when in my generation there was no such thing as a cell phone.  Now they want my children to create apps in order to learn.  It is a good way to be taught though, instead of following the crowd but to standout and create a new world of technology.  I personally to not like twitter or kik or whatever social media people come up with, I prefer Facebook, which took me a while to get used too.  I do think that when my children get of age they will surpass me in social media and want to know how to use it and may create technology.

Augmented reality is using apps on iPads to show virtual reality.  They can go places just by putting the ipad by a picture and it will take them on a tour or an art piece will move and come alive like in Harry Potter.  Teachers are using this to help expand the lessons they teach and children find it exciting.

Augmented apps are a great way to use technology in a classroom. This is a great way to get students excited about learning and see things in a whole new way. Using this tool can help unlock a student potential and excitement about subjects that they may not have been excited about before. Children need this hands one approach an technology infused lessons.
