Kids can't compute

This article talks about back in the day when computers first came out people had to do so much in order to save a file. They never use an app to help with a paper they actually went and doin it then typed it up. They had to memorize programs to help them find saved files and many steps in order to complete anything. Today kids are not taught this. They have it done for them already. With the new windows 8 or with a Mac all the steps are already in the system an they do not have to go about knowing this just click the save button. They live in a day of apps where things are done for them not do it yourself. There is no longer computer skills to learn when programs are built for it. This article also states that with decrease in knowledge kids are less likely to understand how Facebook keep records and that the snapchat picture still remains. When they graduate from high school it states that a student should be able to build their own computer and know how to work out every problem that may occur I do think that students should have an understanding about how a computer, tablet, or cell phones works this will help them be more protectant of their personal identities and information. Knowing how to fix issues with a computer that's going insane but I do not think every child should know how to build a PC. Like me, there are so many kids who do not have the patience or skill to learn how to build a computer, yes many school have technology classes, which are great, but have it as an elective. Kids today are needing to know how to use programs to be college ready building a computer seems to be taking a step away from this common core and what they want students to know when they graduate.
